Aurora
Aurora Aksnes Born June 15, 1996, in Stavanger and is known professionally as Aurora sometimes stylized in uppercase as AURORA is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves by Decca Records was released on May 15th of 2015 and received great reviews from both music bloggers and the press. She's recorded a variety of well-known covers, such as Half the World Away (by Oasis), from the band Oasis) to accompany John Lewis' Christmas advert and Nature Boy (by Nat King Cole), which were widely appreciated. The singer gained further attention via a blog post from Katy Perry where Perry endorsed the track Runaway. It was her birthday. Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical experiences include discovering an old piano that was hidden away in her attic and becoming fascinated with the sounds that it made. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged Aurora to study music. It was not for an income or to pursue a hobby, but rather in order to grow. For this reason she began to write original compositions. She has cited renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan for inspiration, as well as an affinity for Bjork's style. She began performing her music in public when her mother suggested that they could help people to not become famous through her work but to make those around them see the significance of what they do and how they can affect the world. Her first piano lessons began when she was six years old and started writing music at age nine. Her family didn't hear about her musical journey until she was fourteen. There was no way she could have imagined to be Aurora. She says she just likes creating songs. According to her, music is the best way for expressing anything.
